Since the release of the hit Showtime series, Yellowjackets, Melanie Lynskey has had a lot more eyes on her, and with that has come a ton of unsolicited comments and criticism on her appearance.

The actress addressed body-shamers on Twitter, explaining that "skinny does not always equal healthy," and her husband, Jason Ritter shared a subsequent tweet supporting her.

And rightfully so. It's the very definition of binge-worthy, so long as you are not too squeamish.

Since the show's release in November 2021, Melanie Lynsky, who plays the role of Shauna, has had more eyes on her than ever before.

Unfortunately, with extra fame comes extra unsolicited comments by trolls on her appearance.

In January 2022, Melanie took to Twitter to address the sudden interest in her image.

She began by admitting that since Yellowjackets premiered, she has been facing needless, critical comments by viewers on her body.

"The story of my life since Yellowjackets premiered," she wrote.

The 44-year-old explained that the comments that bug her the most are the ones that insinuate that she is unhealthy. "Most egregious are the 'I care about her health!' people," she tweeted.

Melanie assured fans that she is very healthy and there is no cause for concern.

"... You don't see me on my Peloton? You don't see me running through the park with my child?" she tweeted, adding that weight is not always a reflection of health.

"Skinny does not always equal healthy," she wrote.

This wasn't the first time that Melanie has fired back at criticism of her body. In an interview with Rolling Stone she revealed that she not only felt shamed by fans of the show but also members of the Yellowjackets production team.

"They were asking me, 'What do you plan to do? I'm sure the producers will get you a trainer. They'd love to help you with this,'" she said.

Melanie's tweet was met with applause and supportive messages from fans, but one response has stood out among the bunch and it was from her husband, Jason Ritter.

He quote tweeted Melanie's tweet, telling anyone who criticizes another person's body where to go.

"If anyone has any further unsolicited comments about anybody else’s body, they can feel free to write them in permanent ink onto their own foreheads," he tweeted.

"And swan dive directly into the sun," Jason added.

Hats off to Melanie for marrying someone who isn't afraid to stand up for her and fend off trolls.

Jason's tweet defending Melanie earned a lot of praise online.

"Your wife is beautiful. I’ve adored her since Sweet Home Alabama. She seems like one of the sweetest, most genuine people ever. There is nothing wrong with her body," one user tweeted in response.

Others agreed that the comments directed at Melanie were way out of line.

"People who comment on other people's bodies need to stop and ask themselves, what they have to gain from involving themselves in someone else's life. Why does it matter to you? If a person is happy in their own skin, why do you care what they look like? Be Great Melanie!!!" another user tweeted in response.

Overall, fans loved how Jason responded.

"Great response! No one should be defined by their weight — period. Your wife is beautiful and talented. Have been following her for years," another user tweeted.

Melanie and Jason have been married since 2020.
