Dear Reader,

Can't get enough of Bridgerton? (And by that, we largely mean the thirst traps of hunks like Jonathan Bailey and Regé-Jean Page?). Good news: Shonda Rhimes, the executive producer of the popular Netflix series, is expanding the universe!

Very soon, we'll be getting a prequel centered around Queen Charlotte and her epic rise to change society. Here's everything you need to know.

This exciting prequel will center around Queen Charlotte (played by actress Golda Rosheuvel) and Shonda Rhimes will write it.

The creator of many hit shows — Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away With Murder — shared the story of how the prequel came to be back in November.

She told 'Variety' that Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos called her and asked why they weren't doing a show about Queen Charlotte.

"I’m very obsessed with Queen Charlotte, and I always call her the Beyoncé of the show," Shonda shared. "I’m constantly saying out loud, ‘God, I love her wigs,' somehow hoping that somebody will send me one of her wigs so that I can walk around wearing it.”

While the show is still untitled, there are many other exciting details that we already know.

For one, we know that the show will center on the "rise and love life of a young Queen Charlotte," Netflix said in a statement.

We know that her marriage to King George as a Black woman helped change society.

Vulture recently reported that India Amarteifio has been cast to play the young Charlotte. Golda Rosheuval, the Queen you've come to know over the past two seasons, will be reprising her role.

Prepare to see some other familiar faces.

Lady Danbury

Adjoa Andoh will be back as Lady Agatha Danbury. We've already seen her facilitate romantic pairings in both Bridgerton seasons, so it will be interesting to see what her role will be in the prequel.

Newcomer actress Arsema Thomas will play a younger version of Lady Agatha Danbury.

This gives fans a chance to see how she navigates her marriage with a much older husband and comes to find her place in society using the Queen's help.

Finally, we will learn more about Lady Violet Bridgerton, played by Ruth Gemmell.

While we saw some flashbacks of her in Season Two, the prequel will go even deeper. In an interview with E! News Golda and Adjoa shared more about who you can expect to see in the new series.

"These relationships are long-lived between Lady Danbury, Lady Bridgerton, and the queen," Adjoa said.

"That's what the prequel is going to talk about," she continued. "We're going to still be in the world of Bridgerton. We're not moving away from the world that we know and love Queen Charlotte to be in," Golda added.

"I think it's really going to be interesting to see where she has come from and the things that have led her to her in the Bridgerton that we know and love."

You will see some familiar faces from Game of Thrones.

The prequel has cast Michelle Fairley as Princess Augusta and Corey Mylchreest as a young King George.

Other new cast members include Sam Clemmett as Young Brimsley, Richard Cunningham as Lord Bute, Tunji Kasim as Adolphus, Rob Maloney as the Royal Doctor, Cyril Nri as Lord Danbury, and Hugh Sachs as Brimsley.

The show is unlikely to be based on the 'Bridgerton' novels by Julia Quinn.

Anxious to hear when the prequel will be released?

Unfortunately, Golda shared that filming has not yet started. "We have no film date or any kind of scripts or anything at the moment."

Be patient, Dear Readers!
