Britney Spears will forever be a reminder of how crappy the early aughts treated women, especially young, impressionable women just trying to find their footing in their careers and personal lives. It breaks my heart to know she and many other celebs from that time (Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie) were followed by the paparazzi and condemned by trashy magazines for every little thing they did.

Now, it's time to give Britney the peaceful pregnancy she deserves this time around.

On Monday, Britney announced she was expecting her third child.

As fans know, this will be her first child with fiancé Sam Asghari, who she's been dating since 2016.

Posting to social media, Britney explained how she learned she was expecting.

"I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back… I thought “Geez … what happened to my stomach ???” My husband said 'No you’re food pregnant silly !!!'" she began.

"So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby …"

"4 days later I got a little more food pregnant. It’s growing !!! If 2 are in there … I might just loose it," she continued.

"… I obviously won’t be going out as much due to the paps getting their money shot of me like they unfortunately already have … it’s hard because when I was pregnant I had perinatal depression …"

"I have to say it is absolutely horrible … women didn’t talk about it back then … some people considered it dangerous if a woman complained like that with a baby inside her …" Britney explained.

"but now women talk about it everyday … thank Jesus we don’t have to keep that pain a reserved proper secret..."

"Spreading lots of joy and love !!!" she concluded.

It's devastating to know how much Britney was hurting during some of the most precious moments of her life,

It's easy to forget that Britney was in her early twenties when she gave birth to her two sons Jayden James Federline, 15, and Sean Preston Federline, 16.

While trying to balance the weight of her career and young motherhood, Britney was hounded by paparazzi who were all too eager to snap as many photos of the young mom as they could.

Britney has every right to keep this special time private, and I hope she is able to access any mental health resources she needs.
