The Met Gala has become well known as one of the most exclusive parties of the year. It is a time when celebrities gather in droves to celebrate the very best that the fashion world has to offer.

For as much publicity as the event garners, very little is actually known about what goes on behind the curtain. So for those who have been dying to know, here are some weird facts about the Met Gala people probably didn't know about.

Their reasoning behind the outlandish request was apparently due to the fact that they didn't want to have to socialize with certain attendees. That's about as boujee as it gets!

There is only one celebrity that is officially banned from attending the Met Gala in the future.

While playing a game of "Spill Your Guts" with James Corden, Anna Wintour revealed that former U.S. President Donald Trump will never be welcomed back again.

This first occurred in 2015 and has been semi-seriously enforced ever since. The reasoning behind the cellphone ban was so that attendees would be able to live in/enjoy the moment.

This is mainly due to the fact that several celebs have been known to adorn themselves in millions of dollars worth of diamonds and jewelry.

In The First Monday in May, it was revealed that Anna Wintour never seats married couples side-by-side. The reasoning behind this is so that people break free of their comfort zones and meet new people.

Smoking is strictly forbidden.

This shouldn't come as too much of a shock, especially considering that the party takes place inside the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art. That being said, there are always those who attempt to bend the rules.

All attendees must be over the age of 18.

This rule was instated just four years ago. At the time, it meant that hopeful attendees, such as model/dancer Maddie Zeigler, were barred from entry. Will Smith was also refused entry, even though she'd attended in previous years.

Celebrity guests are strategically spaced out.

This is done so that no table can ever be identified as being better than any other. Everyone is equal at the Met Gala, at least that's what hostess Anna Wintour wants them to believe.

Paris Hilton, Nicole Richie, and the Kardashians weren't originally allowed at the event.

Former Met Gala organizer and Vogue associate Stephanie Winston Wolkoff explained, "The Kardashians had zero style, and their whole reason for who they were was nothing that tied to Vogue."

Obviously, they eventually made it in.

Wintour banned chives, garlic, onions, and parsley because they can give people bad breath. Fish is also not on the menu due to the smell.
