Selma Blair is one of the most resilient women in Hollywood. Not only does her acting career span over three decades and include iconic films like Brown's Requiem and Cruel Intentions, but the 49-year-old has been bravely battling MS since 2018.

Now, the Hellboy star is giving fans an insight into her life like never before with her new memoir, Mean Baby, out May 17.

Selma Blair is giving fans an unprecedented look into her life in her upcoming tell-all memoir, Mean Baby.

The 49-year-old recently sat down with People to discuss some of the more difficult parts of her book, namely — her childhood.

The "Legally Blonde" actress revealed her battle with alcoholism began at the tender age of 7.

“I don’t know if I would’ve survived childhood without alcoholism,” she told the publication. “That’s why it’s such a problem for a lot of people. It really is a huge comfort, a huge relief in the beginning.

"Maybe even the first few years for me because I did start really young with that as a comfort, as my coping mechanism."

In an excerpt from Mean Baby, Selma writes: “The first time I got drunk it was a revelation. I always liked Passover. As I took small sips of the Manischewitz I was allowed throughout the seder a light flooded through me, filling me up with the warmth of God."

The actress went on to reveal that she didn't set out to get drunk the first few times she drank.

"Just quick sips whenever my anxiety would alight," she recalled. "I usually barely even got tipsy. I became an expert alcoholic, adept at hiding my secret."

"Mean Baby" is available for pre-order now.
