Woman Is Amused And Confused All At Once After Finding Strange Dog In Her Bed

As secure as we like to think our homes are, it's hardly impossible for some particularly enterprising critters to find their way in.

But while bug infestations are an everyday occurrence and we can occasionally find that a bird will turn our houses chaotic after finding its way inside, there are some of nature's intrusions that are much harder to explain.

Nobody ever expects to find bears in their basement or a moose in their classroom, but such things have happened and there's not really any debate as to whether we should high-tail it and call animal control when they do.

However, that's not what one Tennessee couple woke up to find one morning and while what they did discover was likely a more welcome sight, it was just as mysterious as those cases.

For Julie Thornton Johnson of Benton, Tennessee, it isn't unusual for their three dogs to intermittently sleep in the bed she shares with her husband Jimmy.

But as she wrote in a Facebook post, it's a lot more unusual for one of them to lay as close to the pillows as the dog we see here is doing.

Nonetheless, this wasn't exactly a cause for concern for the couple because it's not like some else's dog would have snuck into their house during the night, right?

Yet when they woke up the next morning, they discovered that this was precisely what had happened.

As Johnson put it in her post, "THIS IS NOT OUR DOG, nor do we know how she got in our house."

But since this canine interloper was as cuddly as one of her pets, she and her husband found the surprise as funny as they found it bizarre.

Still, it wasn't something they could keep to themselves since someone was almost certainly wondering where their dog was.

So Johnson ended her post by saying, "This is the weirdest post I have ever had to make. Is this your dog? Please share."

And as People reported, it seemed that enough people answered Johnson's call that she was able to get in contact with the owners, who lived in her neighborhood and told her the curious pup's name is Nala.

And as we can see here, this bizarre set of circumstances led these two couples and their affectionate pets to build a closer bond than they ever would have expected.

However, if you were hoping that Nala's owners had some key insight into how she got into the Johnsons' home, it seems they're just as stumped as anyone.

As they put it in their own Facebook post about this turn of events, "Our overly friendly pup, Nala, has hit an all time record for ignoring personal space and added yet another trick to her long list of Houdini acts."

So after Nala slipped out of her collar and ran down the street, the infiltration skills that led her inside will remain her little secret.
