Call me crazy, but one of the most important aspects of planning a wedding is choosing the right food venue or catering. Having a good time and lots of food to eat is what most people remember. Am I right?

So, this one couple is getting flack for swapping food to have something a little different during their wedding. Let's just say it has to do with Disney characters. Before you chime in, you need to hear the full story so keep reading below.

I stumbled upon this post on Reddit.

The post found its way into the "AITA" (Am I the Asshole) subreddit, but it was quickly deleted by the moderators. However, that was before it got reposted on Twitter, ha, ha. So let's get to the details, shall we?

This is how it goes:

Apparently, this couple is obsessed with Disney. So much so that they often travel to Disney World. So they had their dream wedding that their parents helped to pay for, and everything went well. But then a family member aired her grievance on Facebook, and many other wedding guests followed.

What has the issue?

As it turns out, the love birds opted to skip catering the food for their guests so they could have Minnie and Mickey make an appearance during their wedding for a total cost of about $5,500. Holy cow!

And not everybody was raving about it.

The couple did let their guests know that there would be food vendors available, but that wasn't covered in the actual wedding cost. So, needless to say, if you got hungry, you were on your own.

How do you like that? Well, as you can imagine, once this got online, people had lots of opinions about it. And many of them sided with the family member and the other wedding guests, saying that this wasn't okay.

Here's what I think.

I don't know about you, but when I attend a wedding, my expectation is to get fed. No matter what the budget, there should be some food and refreshments for your guests. You can't expect people to travel all the way and then be on the hook to find their own food.

It isn't clear whether this wedding happened at Disney.

But I'm assuming this was the case. So to expect your guests to travel and possibly fork up the cost for rooms at Disney only to have to go hungry doesn't leave a good impression on me. As much as you can be crazy about Disney characters, that shouldn't make all your wedding guests uncomfortable like this.

I think this was pretty selfish.

I'm all for themed weddings. They are sure a ton of fun if you're into that sort of thing. But you need to consider your guests' feelings when you plan on skipping food. If I were a guest at this wedding I wouldn't be all too happy about it.

So what do you think of this story?

Do you agree with this couple to forgo food for their wedding guests so they can have Mickey and Minnie make an appearance instead? Or do you think this is pretty selfish and tacky?

I'm not a fan of this idea at all. They could have just done their engagement photos with the Disney characters and not done this for their wedding day. That's what I would have done.
