Katy Perry is coming under fire recently after her fourth of July tweets were received poorly by fans. Many celebrities took to social media on the patriotic holiday to express their anger and frustration at the Supreme Court's recent decision to overturn Roe v. Wade.

After tweeting in support of those protesting the holiday, things took a turn as fans uncovered a tweet from last month when the "Firework" singer expressed her support for Rick Caruso.

Katy Perry is one of the most beloved pop stars of the 21st century.

There is no denying how much her "Teenage Dream" album influenced the 2010's pop era. She was an unstoppable music force for nearly a decade, and with a strong fan base, it's safe to say there are millions of fans are still eagerly awaiting her next album.

These days, Katy is busy being a judge on "American Idol" and being a mom to her baby girl Daisy, who she shares with fiancé Orlando Bloom.

Since bursting onto the music scene in 2008, Katy has been a fierce feminist and vocal advocate for women's rights, which is why fans weren't surprised to see her tweet on July 4th.

In reference to her 2010 hit "Firework" the 37-year-old tweeted: '"Baby you're a firework' is a 10 but women in the US have fewer rights than an actual sparkler smh."

Many replies were quick to praise Perry and her thoughtful tweet, while others had a bone to pick with the singer.

A few weeks ago, Katy tweeted in support of Los Angeles mayoral candidate, Rick Caruso.

Although the mayoral candidate did tweet in support of a woman's right to choose, he has been condemned by Planned Parenthood in the past. Yikes.

In fact, he has made such a negative impact on the women's health organization that they wrote a letter directly to him.

"Throughout your career, you’ve publicly supported organizations and policymakers who have taken aggressive action to limit access to abortion, overturn Roe v Wade, and defund Planned Parenthood," the letter reads.

"You’ve donated nearly $1 million to policymakers who put forth legislation that criminalized abortion. You have supported some of the strongest enemies to reproductive rights in the country."

The letter continued: "You have used your wealth and influence to support policymakers who likened abortion to murder, and who have made concerted efforts to defund Planned Parenthood and overturn Roe v. Wade."

As you can imagine, this combination of tweets from Katy did not go unnoticed by fans, who were upset to see the contradicting messages.

"Reminder that celebrity girl bosses like Katy Perry & Gweneth Paltro who are now posting about reproductive rights endorsed Rick Caruso for mayor," tweeted one critic.

"Caruso has donated over a million dollars to pro-life causes and Republican candidates including Mitch McConnell," they added.

Katy has not released a statement in regards to the controversy.
