News about Elon Musk always seems to come in threes. First, it was the secret twins he had with his employee, now it's about him backpedaling on his Twitter deal, next it will surely be something else equally wild.
But back to the matter at hand, yes, Elon Musk has officially backed out of his Twitter buyout and is facing all the repercussions that come with, from online jokes to lawsuits.
Musk had agreed to buy the social media platform for around $41 billion back in April, a shocking bit of news at the time as it seemingly came out of nowhere.
He temporarily put the deal on hold to investigate the number of bot accounts the site has, then there was no news about it until yesterday's confirmation that he will not be buying Twitter afterall.
The original announcement led some people to quit the platform entirely, others threatening to migrate elsewhere should the deal go through. Now that it hasn't, people are revving up the jokes and reactions, like the person above who's not surprised at all by his behavior.
When this went down, Musk asked the UN to provide him with a detailed plan of how they'd spend the money and how it'd end world hunger. They gave him a start, a once-year breakdown of where the money would go and how it would help people, but since it wasn't exactly what he asked for, he backed out of this too.
He reportedly fathered two children with top Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis. This news broke thanks to a court order Zilis and Musk filed together so the babies would "have their father's last name and contain their mother's last name as part of their middle name."
Twitter has promised legal action to try and enforce the deal between them and Musk, while Musk's own team claims Twitter breached their merger agreement multiple times.
