Get excited, Outlander fans, because the show is about to take us even further back in time with a prequel series!

We love finding out the history of our favorite shows, and prequel series give us that in abundance. Whether you've been waiting for the Game Of Thrones prequel, or you've been following AMC's Fear The Walking Dead, there's about to be a new prequel series in town that might just blow both of those out of the water.

'Outlander' is one of our favorite shows.

Based on the novel series of the same name by Diana Gabaldon, the show follows Claire Randall, a World War II military nurse who finds herself transported back in time to 1743, where she meets and falls in love with a Highland warrior named Jamie Fraser.

A prequel series, 'Outlander: Blood of My Blood' has just been confirmed.

The show will follow the love story of Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser, Jamie's parents.

Kathryn Busby, President of Original Programming at Starz, said in a press release, "Outlander is a riveting show that from season to season has captured the hearts of its fans around the world."

"We are excited to peel back the layers of this vibrant world to bring our audience the origin of where it all began."

"Matthew, Maril [Davis], and Ronald [D. Moore] will continue to bring their excellent vision and creativity to this new iteration, and we can’t wait to see what happens next."

Obviously, fans are excited.

"I feel a new obsession coming on..." one fan wrote in the comments on Instagram.

"I am smelling another masterpiece!" wrote another.
