On Monday, it was announced that Hollywood icon Olivia Newton-John had passed away at age 73. The news was devastating to fans of the actress and musician, who has been a prominent fixture in pop culture since the 1970s.
After Olivia's death, many fans were reminded of her longtime boyfriend Patrick McDermott, who has been reported missing since 2005.
At the time of her death, the Grease star never got closure on his mysterious disappearance.
The pair tied the knot in 2008 and spent many beautiful years together before Olivia died on August 8th, 2022.
The couple dated on and off for nine years but broke up shortly before Patrick went missing after a boating trip in 2005.
Patrick's actress ex-wife Yvette Nipar sounded alarm bells after he failed to appear for a visitation he had scheduled with his then 13-year-old son, Chance.
At the time, the US Coast Guard investigated the disappearance and concluded Patrick had fallen off the boat and likely drowned, as per The Post.
"He was lost at sea and nobody really knows what happened. It's human to wonder, but … you have to accept and let go," she explained.
While some conspiracies remain that Patrick is still alive and faked his own death for a variety of reasons, his ex-wife firmly believes he died at sea.
