The legendary Steve Martin may retire once he wraps up his current projects. Or, at least, he's aiming to be less busy than before.

The comedy icon has vowed to stop looking for acting opportunities and instead devote his time to a number of his other passions, so while we may not see him on the big screen, he'll still be creating wonderful things.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the Academy Award winner revealed that he's finished seeking out acting opportunities.

This news comes as episodes of Only Murders in the Building's second season, a show in which he stars, continue to air.

He's in the middle of one more project, then he says he'll be done.

He's doing a live show called You Won't Believe What They Look Like Today! with Martin Short, and is having a blast.

"We were very happy just doing the live show," he said, "There may be a natural end to that [...] but I wouldn't do it without Marty. When this television show is done, I'm not going to seek others. I'm not going to seek other movies. I don't want to do cameos. This is, weirdly, it."

Though he says it's not really a 'retirement'.

"My wife keeps saying, 'You always say you're going to retire and then you always come up with something'. I'm really not interested in retiring. I'm not. But I would just work a little less. Maybe."

He does have other projects to keep him busy.

There's currently an Apple TV+ documentary being made about his life and his soon-to-be-published book, Number One Is Walking: My life in the Movies and Other Diversions, the 12th one he's written.

Not to mention his family at home.

One he wants to spend more time with, saying, "I have a family life that's really fun. To film a movie now, to go someplace else to live, I'm not willing to do that anymore. I can't disappear for three months."

We wish him well with all future endeavors, though we'll certainly miss him!
