The series of events leading up to Anne Heche's passing have been quite the roller coaster. Just last week, she made headlines after being involved in a serious car wreck that left her with severed burns. Those injuries only worsened until professionals made the decision to end her life support.

Today, friends and family speak out in the wake of her death and remember her presence in their lives.

Yesterday, actress Anne Heche died.

She was only 53, having passed from injuries sustained during a catastrophic car wreck last week.

In the wake of her passing, famous friends have been mourning her death while also remembering her in life. Here are some of the celebrities who've spoken about her.

Ellen DeGeneres.

DeGeneres and Heche dated for three years before breaking up in 2000, and in fact, Heche felt that her relationship with DeGeneres "destroyed her prospects as a leading woman." Their relationship becoming public was big news in the late '90s

As commented on by writer and director Ted Geoghegan.

He thanked Heche (and DeGeneres) for being brave enough to publically come out in the '90s and change that landscape in Hollywood forever. "I was in awe, and remember thinking, 'This could really change things for people.'"

Ed Helms.

Actor Ed Helms, star The Office and The Hangover, also shared his condolences, calling Heche a "truly epic, vibrant spirit and profound talent" before sending his best to her family.

James Tupper.

Another one of Heche's ex-partners, the two met while filming Men in Trees. Upon her passing, he posted a photo of her to his Instagram and captioned it "Love you forever." They had one son together named Atlas.

James Gunn.

Marvel director James Gunn said that Heche's performance in the broadway show 'PROOF' was the "best acting performance I've seen in my life" before also wishing her peace.

Rosie O'Donnell.

O'Donnell posted a TikTok with a screenshot of a post saying Heche's prognosis was not good and that she wasn't expected to survive, captioning it "just so heartbreaking." This would be mere hours before her death.

Finally, her own family.

Heche's oldest son, Homer, spoke to People about his mother's death, saying, "My brother Atlas and I lost our Mom. After six days of almost unbelievable emotional swings, I am left with a deep, wordless sadness. Hopefully my mom is free from pain and beginning to explore what I like to imagine as her eternal freedom."
