Millie Bobby Brown is an acting superstar. Staring at Eleven in Stranger Things when she was only 12 years old, she's now 18 and reminiscing on the early years of her acting career.
Of course, she didn't land everything right away and was met with quite a few comments that almost caused her to quit. Thank goodness she didn't, look at her today!
Known best for her role as Eleven in Stranger Things, Brown almost didn't audition for the role entirely thanks to a comment from a "powerful casting director" as she put it in an interview with Allure.
He told her she was too mature to make it as a child actor. Note that she was only 10 years old at the time.
"I always knew that I was mature and I couldn't really help that," Brown said.
"Going back to what I said earlier about being kind of very lonely in who I was and feeling like no one was quite like me in school and no one was as mature as I was, [hearing that] was really hard because I thought [maturity] was a good thing."
"It was so hurtful. I got really down about that. My parents told me, 'Just do this one last audition on tape and then you can go outside and play with your friends again.'"
