Back in 2020, Harvey Weinstein was convicted of rape and sentenced to jail. But now, he has been granted an appeal by a New York judge, and depending on what happens, he can even get out on bail.

This has parked immediate outrage online, as many feel he should not have been granted the appeal at all.

A New York judge has granted Harvey Weinstein, once one of Hollywood's most powerful men, an appeal of his conviction.

In 2020, he was found guilty of third-degree rape and found guilty in committing a criminal sex act.

A spokesperson for Weinstein released a statement reading:

"I am innocent of these charges, and I am so grateful to my attorneys for working hard and smart on this. Their hard work will help me prove my innocence in the end. I look forward to this opportunity to be heard by the The New York Court of Appeals."
