Snoop Dogg's rap persona may be far from family friendly, but that doesn't mean he can't make time for the kids, apparently. The Grammy-nominated artist has decided to take on a new business venture.
That's right, Snoop Dogg has co-founded and launched a YouTube channel. But you won't see any references to drugs or adult themes there. Instead, you'll see hip-hop-infused nursery rhymes.
Titled Doggyland - Kids Songs & Nursery Rhymes, Snoop Dogg provides the voice for the channel's main character, Bow Wizzle. He appears alongside a colorful cast of characters.
The channel's content consists of videos showing the 3-D animated characters singing and dancing to various nursery rhymes, including "Wheels on the Bus" and "Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes."
The channel's most popular video, "Wheels on the Bus," already has over 1.5 million views. The other videos on the channel are raking in the views, too.
He stressed that making kids' content was important to him, telling CNN, "As a father, grandfather and longtime youth football coach, it's always been important to me to build positive and educational environments for all children."
While there's definitely a vast amount of YouTube content geared toward kids, adding a little more wouldn't hurt.
"I've always wanted to create a kid friendly series that lets kids be kids and is truly representative of the culture with everything from the music to the characters," he continued.
"When I started to build my team, it was only right to partner with Claude [Brooks], who created the iconic series, Hip Hop Harry, which built the blueprint to diverse kids programming, and October London, a talented singer and writer."
The team creates songs and accompanying videos to teach kids a variety of things beyond the standard nursery rhymes we all loved in our preschool days.
Videos like "Everybody's Different" and "Sharing is Caring" are aimed to help kids understand and learn emotional skills. He even teaches the kids about saying affirmations.
The album, also titled "Doggyland - Kids Songs & Nursery Rhymes," is available on major streaming platforms.
While the channel doesn't have too many videos to offer just yet, it posts new content every Tuesday.
