It's hard to believe that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has passed away. After a life of service and a legacy extending far past the monarchy, the Queen was someone millions of people found comfort and consistency in.
Now, in the hours following HM's death, fans are wondering about who was by her side at the time of her death, and why notable Royals like the Duchess of Cambridge weren't present.
The news came after an earlier statement indicated that the monarch was being monitored closely by doctors who were "concerned" for her wellbeing.
"The Queen died peacefully at Balmoral this afternoon," they announced Thursday afternoon. "The King and The Queen Consort will remain at Balmoral this evening and will return to London tomorrow."
However, there were a few people missing, notably the Queen's granddaughter-in-law, the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton.
"Hands-on mom Kate likely stayed behind at Adelaide Cottage for the children's first day of classes," the publication claims.
Of course, Balmoral is where HM died on Thursday.
