It's hard to believe that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has passed away. The news of the monarch's passing on Thursday sent shock waves across the world and left millions feeling like their one constant is now gone.

As we look to the future of the Royal Family, here's how the queen's grandson Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton's titles have changed.

On Thursday, September 8th, it was announced that HM Queen Elizabeth II died. She was 96.

The news came after an earlier statement indicated that the monarch was being monitored closely by doctors who were "concerned" for her wellbeing.

Shortly after her passing, it was announced that her eldest son, Charles, was now King Charles III, and his wife, Camilla, was now Queen Consort.

Camilla's title wasn't always a guarantee, though. As fans will recall, when Charles and Camilla quietly wed back in 2005, Camilla let it be known that she intended to use the title "princess consort" — a first in Royal history.

As reported by Sky News, the decision to take that title was seen as an acknowledgment to the public, who was finding it difficult to accept Camilla in the years following Diana's death.

For that same reason, Camilla decided not to use the Princess of Wales title (which had been used by the late Diana) and instead opted for the Duchess of Cornwall, thus styling herself on Charles's other title.

"I was scrutinised for such a long time that you just have to find a way to live with it," Camilla said in a recent interview with British Vogue.

"Nobody likes to be looked at all the time and, you know, criticised... but I think in the end, I sort of rise above it and get on with it."

Now that her husband Charles is King of England, it means Camilla's role in the Royal family will change.

Back in February, Queen Elizabeth requested for Camilla to take on the title of Queen Consort when it was time to do so.

"And when, in the fullness of time, my son Charles becomes King, I know you will give him and his wife Camilla the same support that you have given me, and it is my sincere wish that, when that time comes, Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her own loyal service," HM said at the time.

As aforementioned, Camilla will now be known as Camilla, Queen Consort as her husband is now King Charles III.

So what does that mean for Charles' son, Prince William, and his wife Kate Middleton? Well, their titles got an update, too!

Shortly after her Majesty's passing, William and Kate added Cornwall to their titles on Twitter.

As Royal fans know, those titles were previously held by Charles and Camilla.

William and Kate's social media bio now reads: "The official account of The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and Cambridge and the Royal Foundation, based at Kensington Palace."

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE!

After King Charles III made his first public address as King of the United Kingdom Friday evening, it was confirmed that the pair were now also the Prince and Princess of Wales.

This is major news because Kate is now the 1st woman to formally take the title since the late Princess Diana.

So this means the pair will retain their Duke and Duchess of Cambridge titles while also inheriting the Prince and Princess of Wales.

These new NEW titles mean their social media handles have changed yet again, this time reflecting their latest titles as Prince and Princess of Wales.

This is a major historical moment and a nostalgic name change for Royal family fans.
