When Prince William isn't spending time with his family or fulfilling his many royal duties as Prince of Wales, he's catching a football game.

His team of choice? England, of course. But sometimes, being such a staunch supporter of the team is almost too much to handle.

He revealed this in a special episode appearance of Games of Fives, which was organized by football media company Copa90 with the Royal Foundation.

During the 25-minute conversation, William shared his love of the game, explaining that he still has a "lot of friends" that he met through football.

"Some of the greatest friendships are born from playing games and being pushed together in slight adversity," he said.

One time, his school played multiple football games at once by playing with 60 people and multiple balls.

"The sheer size and scale and just the fun of everyone running around chasing each other, I loved it. I was a defender, I was stuck at the back and told to just tackle."

His Inspiration While Playing Ball at School Was Former England Defender, Rio Ferdinand

"He was ahead of me just a little bit as time went on," he joked.

The conversation took a deeper turn when Prince William shared how "hard" it is for him to be an England fan.

"You learn by playing a number of times, and many other things in life, that disappointment is part of life."

When you're invested in a team, there is an emotional component that non-fans simply can't understand.

"Suddenly Normal Life Just Gets Back On Again and It's Like, Where Did That All Go? Was That Real?" He Continued

"How do I get that feeling back? Football has that ability to just put it all on a plate for you and then suddenly just take it all away and go until next time…."

The fact that he's been an England fan for so long also makes any losses difficult. He went on to recall a memory from when he was younger.

"Quite a strong memory of early days was donning an England shirt and going down the pub with my mates and watching England play in big tournaments."

"When Wayne Rooney Appeared on Scene, That Was a Big Moment for Me Growing Up," He Added

"There was something very powerful, really interesting about how Wayne played and the steel he brought to the England team."

Since William was getting vulnerable with a subject that relates to many sports fans, he also highlighted Shout, the 24/7 free text messaging support service launched in 2019 by Prince William, his wife, Kate, and Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

So whether it's the loss of a game or something else on your mind, there's always a service available to lend an ear.

Who knows, you might even end up talking to William, who has previously admitted to volunteering for the service.
