The Hollywood star's death comes as a shock to other movie stars, as well as the actress's fans, as she was a role model. On December 5, 2022, Kirstie's children announced the devastating news of their mother's death. In a family statement, they made it known that the actress passed away following a battle with cancer, which was only recently discovered. Next, Kirstie's kids explained that the actress received so much love before her demise. According to the statement, she was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength.

Furthermore, the Hollywood star's children spoke about Kirstie's life away from the big screen. In their words:

"As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother. Our mother's zest and passion for life, her children, and grandchildren, and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating were unparalleled."

Lastly, the actress's family thanked everyone for their love and prayers, asking that the public respects their privacy.

Kirstie's career in entertainment spanned decades and throughout that time, she appeared in many movies and television shows like Fat Actress, Scream Queens, Veronica's Closet, etc. However, fans will always remember the actress's breakout role as bar manager and cocktail waitress, Rebecca Howe in Cheers.

Kirstie joined the series in 1987 and appeared in 147 episodes before the show ended a few years later in 1993.

Kirstie's Commendable Achievements 

Kirstie was a two-time Emmy Award winner taking home the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Cheers in 1991. The second Emmy Award was for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Special for her role as Sally Goodson in David's Mother in 1994. One year later, Kirstie received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
