Aaron Carter Opens Up About Playing 'Russian Roulette' With Drugs: 'It Can Kill You'

When Aaron Carter was addicted to drugs, he used to gamble with his life.

Literally.

In the new teaser trailer for his upcoming E! True Hollywood Story, the singer opened up about playing "Russian roulette" with drugs.

Aaron Carter has always been super open about his past drug use.

This past September, the singer even appeared on The Doctors to set the record straight on his controversial prescription drug use.

He did so by going through with a drug test on the show.

Afterward, Dr. Travis Stork explained the results.

They showed that his “urine tested positive for marijuana, extended opiates, hydrocodone as an example, and benzodiazepine."

The benzodiazepine could have something to do with the number of medications the singer was on to treat his multiple personality disorder and schizophrenia.

“This is my reality … hi. I have nothing to hide," the singer said when he revealed his official diagnoses on a previous episode of the show.

The main reason why he visited rehab in 2017, though, was for his huffing addiction.

"It’s something that I’ve kept secret from the whole world until now,” he said.

He even has to take gabapentin and fish oil “to repair the serotonin receptors" in his brain.

It was his sister, Leslie, who introduced him to huffing when he was just 16.

Sadly, she had died from a drug overdose in 2012 at the age of 25.

“I was huffing because I was really [expletive] stupid and sad but this is really no excuse,” Aaron admitted. “I was huffing because I’m a drug addict.”

After the death of Leslie and his father, Bob, who died from a heart attack, Aaron blamed himself for their deaths.

"I felt like I had been responsible for the death of my sister, for the death of my dad, for my family falling apart," Aaron said during an episode of Family Bootcamp.

"I think that that's one of the things that hurts Aaron the most," his mother, Jane, said in his confessional.

"He just was so busy with his own life that he wasn't there, and I think he wanted to be there for them. In his heart, he feels like he could've done something more."

These current mental health issues have affected his relationship with his sister, Angel, and his older brother, Nick Carter of Backstreet Boy fame.

Things have gotten so bad that Nick and Angel even filed for a restraining order against his younger brother back in September.

The decision to do so wasn't taken lightly.

On social media, Nick shared the scary reasons why they were forced to take legal action against their brother.

After he was served, Aaron lashed out on Twitter with a series of angry tweets.

"Take care. @nickcarter we're done for life," tweeted right after, followed up "I haven't seen him in four years. And I don't intend."

Now, months after all this family drama, Aaron is setting the record straight.

He's doing so with his own E! True Hollywood Story.

In the teaser trailer for it, he shared more truths about his previous drug use.

Like the first time he used Xanax and all of the dangerous times he mixed it with other drugs.

"First time I ever did Xanax was from street drug dealer," Carter said. "I didn't even know what I was doing. I didn't even know what it was for."

"Was I taking Oxycodones?" he continued. "Yes, I was. Was I taking Xanax? Yes, I was."

After a doctor pointed out how lethal this combination can be, Aaron described the experience as something akin to playing "Russian roulette."

"I can't sit here and say that I haven't played Russian roulette, because I have."

"And it can kill you," he said.

These days, two years sober, the singer is doing much better.
