Taco Bell Is Entering The Fried Chicken Battle With Crispy Tortilla Chicken Tenders

This year has unofficially been dubbed the Year of the Fried Chicken Sandwich, and it's influenced other fast foods chains to dabble in the fried chicken game, namely Taco Bell.

Back in the summer, Popeye's Chicken launched a spicy chicken sandwich that made people lose their minds.

Long lines of customers and Twitter (of course) created buzz around the sandwich, with a man even suing the company for running out of it.

Then, Chick-Fil-A, the fast food restaurant known for their sandwich, entered the conversation, creating a possible unexpected stir with their sassy and snippy Tweet.

Ever since, people have been trying to figure out: whose fried chicken sandwich reigns supreme?

Popeye's has even brought the sandwich back because of its popularity.

Enter Taco Bell into the ring.

Taco Bell

I know, weird flex. Chicken isn't really Taco Bell's forte, but they're taking advantage of all the fried chicken hype to see how it fits in with their Tex-Mex palette.

According to CNN, Taco Bell is slated to test their latest innovation, Crispy Tortilla Chicken tenders, in Dayton, Ohio and Houstin, Texas to see how they fare.

The chicken strips are "breaded" with jalapeno buttermilk and crushed tortilla chips, and served with a sauce on the side. That honestly sounds super tasty.

Customers can order them on their own as a duo for $3 or a trio for $4, as well as in taco form for $2 a pop.

Now, whether or not a taco is categorically a sandwich is a battle in and of itself.

So, Taco Bell is really here to stir things up and cause some chaos!

If you live in or in the vicinity of either city, it's all up to you.

Will Taco Bell make it to the next round of the fried chicken battle? We'll just have to wait and see.
