Police Catch Canine Culprit Stealing Toys Meant For Needy Kids

It's common around the holiday season for local police departments to run charity campaigns for their communities. Sometimes they raise money or collect specific items to give to needy families.

But when the Franklin Police Department in Massachusetts began collecting toys for kids, they realized that some of the items were going missing.

The number of donations this year were incredible.

Just look at all those toys waiting to make children in need happy this Christmas.

Many are stacked on tables in the station's small classroom, and if you look in the back you can see some beginning to pile up on the floor.

But as they began to prepare for distributing the gifts, officers noticed that some toys were missing.

The station is locked down and no one from outside could have entered the classroom.

So, it seemed pretty clear who the thief could be.

They just had to wait to catch the culprit in action.

It didn't take long for someone to notice Ben, the station's therapy dog, wandering out of the classroom with something in his mouth.

And doesn't the thief look guilty when they got him.

Ben tried to run away, but that meant he just led the cops right to his lair.

Under a desk in an out of the way place, they discovered his stash.

Ben's punishment is being locked out of the classroom from now on, but since he's already slobbered all over the toys, his officer friends are going to replace them in the donation pool.
