Zac Efron Breaks His Silence After Being Hospitalized For Life-Threatening Illness

This time of year can be hard for many people, but it looks like actor Zac Efron has been having it rougher than most while attempting to film his new reality survival series.

Efron is currently filming 'Killing Zac Efron,' a survival show following Efron as he heads into a jungle on his own.

"I tend to thrive under extreme circumstances and seek out opportunities that challenge me on every level," Efron said in a statement at the time. "I am excited to explore any uncharted territory and discover what unexpected adventure awaits."

The show was filming in Papua New Guinea in December when reports emerged of Efron being air-lifted to a hospital in Brisbane, Australia.

It was reported that Efron had become ill with an infection. He was reportedly released from hospital and flown back to the United States on December 24th.

It was then reported the infection Efron had contracted was typhoid.

The Daily Telegraph reported that the star had contracted typhoid, a potentially life-threatening bacterial infection that causes a high fever and abdominal pain.

Fans were of course immediately worried.

Nobody wants to hear that anyone's contracted a serious illness, especially not someone you're a fan of and look up to.

"I swear to god if anything happened to Zac Efron..."

"I dont think I could emotionally handle Zac Efron leaving us in 2019," tweeted one fan.

Zac has broken his silence on this incident with a post on Instagram.

"Very thankful to everyone who has reached out," he wrote alongside this picture of himself with locals in Papua New Guinea.

"I did get sick in Papua New Guinea but I bounced back quick and finished an amazing 3 weeks in P.N.G."

"I’m home for the holidays with my friends and family. Thanks for all the love and concern, see you in 2020!"

Zac had a few famous well wishers in the comments glad to hear he was doing okay.

Including celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, Catfish star Max Joseph, and graphic artist Boss Logic, who all expressed relief that he was feeling better.

And obviously, there were fans in the comments by the thousands.

"Omg my friends and I held a candle light vigil to pray for you! Guess it worked," wrote one commenter, and another added, "Glad to hear you are feeling better handsome."

Some fans found a bit of humor in the situation once they realized Zac was going to be fine.

It is a bit ironic that the show he was filming is called Killing Zac Efron, but we're sure the irony isn't lost on Zac!

Most fans were just relieved to hear the good news.

We're all so glad that Zac's okay, and we're sure that Killing Zac Efron is going to be a wild ride to watch!
