In a recent BCC Radio Today interview, world-renowned environmental activist Greta Thunberg finally provided some context for the photo of her glaring at President Trump at the UN Climate Summit earlier this year.

In the interview, she was asked about her now-infamous "death glare" at Trump caught on video during the summit.
She was also asked whether or not she has exchanged any words with the President since.

"Honestly, I don't think I would have said anything," she stated, "because obviously, he's not listening to scientists and experts, so why would he listen to me?"
"So I probably wouldn't have said anything, I wouldn't have wasted my time."

Thunberg, who was recently named Time Magazine's Person Of The Year for 2019, has been the recipient of less-than-civil criticism from both President Trump and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.
The latter called her a 'brat' in an interview a few weeks ago.

"Those attacks are just funny because they obviously don't mean anything," she says. "I guess of course it means something — they are terrified of young people bringing change which they don't want."
"But that is just proof that we are actually doing something and that they see us as some kind of threat."

Thunberg ended the interview with anticipation to start school in August.
Because while she's clearly a passionate activist, she would prefer a world in which she didn't have to be one.

"I just want to be just [like] everyone else," she said. "I want to educate myself and be just like a normal teenager."
