Disney star, Dove Cameron, shared a statement to her Instagram story, responding to fans after her ex-fiancé accused her of cheating on him, resulting in their engagement being called off.

Dove Cameron Responds After Her Ex-Fiance Accused Her Of Cheating
It hasn't been a clean break for Dove Cameron and her ex-fiancé, Ryan McCartan.

The pair met on the set of Disney's Liv & Maddie and dated for three years before getting engaged in April, 2016.
They ultimately ended up calling off their engagement later that same year, in October.

Although it has been four years since their split, it looks like Ryan may still be holding on to some resentment.
During a recent Q&A, Ryan was asked by the interviewer what his proudest moment has been so far in his life.

In response, he recounted a difficult time in his life, four years ago, when he and Dove called it quits.
“Within two weeks, my fiancée cheated on and left me, I almost died from food poisoning, and Donald Trump was elected president," he said.
He admitted that it was tough to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
"I truly didn’t think I would be able to make it through that part of my life," he said.

"I’m proudest of the light that came from the darkness."
"And my ability to survive and turn the anger and sadness I had into positive life changes and a new way forward,” he concluded.

While he didn't call out Dove by name, it was clear who he was talking about.
But instead of firing back for airing out their dirty laundry or denying the claims, Dove took the high road.

She posted an uplifting, positive messgae to her Instagram story instead.
"This new decade, 2020 specifically, and my 24th year feels so synergistic, and perfect, and I can't even put it into words," she began.
"It's been years since I felt this good, this capable, this strong".
"And this connected in general and in terms of my relationship with myself."

"I've been so disillusioned and lost, so dark and so sad," she went on.
"And I only now feel like I'm beginning to find the magic again."
"That place where I'm not afraid of what used to leave me frozen in agonizing fear," she continued.
"Where I can finally feel safe to lean on only myself and be whole and complete within my own skin."

"It has been, and will continue to be a long road, with the work solely in my own hands".
"And I always leave room for more growth and connection with my higher self (and therapy)."
"But I suddenly feel it again," she said.
"Something old, but something new."

"The difference in energy is staggering. This is fresh," she said. "I feel like I’m ready to start showing up for life again.”
Following that statement, she shared another message on Twitter about toxic people.
So, again, although no names were named, it seems way too coincidental that these weren't about Ryan.
