'Modern Family's Jesse Tyler Ferguson Expecting First Child With Husband Justin Mikita

There's nothing more symbolic for the Modern Family cast that the show that started off with a gay couple having a child is ending while a gay cast member in real life has a child with his partner.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who plays Mitchell Pritchett on the long-running sitcom, has just made a huge announcement!

While on 'The Late Late Show,' Jesse was discussing entering his 40's.

“It’s when you finally become an adult, I feel,” he explained, "Like, ‘I need to start getting serious about things.’"

And then he dropped a bombshell.

Jesse then revealed the real reason he needs to start getting serious in his 40's.

“Actually, this is something I haven’t even mentioned to anyone, if we could just keep it between the three of us and you all, but I’m actually expecting a baby in July with my husband," he said, to tons of applause and excitement from the audience and the other celebrities on stage with him.

Jesse didn't give away the sex of the baby, but he did confirm that it would be "human."

“I’m very excited, but it feels like I’m 44 now, let’s get this show going,” he added. “Tick tock.”

You can watch the video of the announcement right here.

Jesse and his husband Justin Mikita have been married since 2013.

The couple has been together since 2010, so this is probably a long time coming for them!

Congratulations to the happy couple!
