Tiny Hamster Wears A Tiny Cast To Help Heal His Broken Arm

I know it's my job to come up with something clever to say about this viral pic of a hamster in a tiny cast, but the cuteness of this has broken me.

There are no words that can adequately describe the noises I made upon seeing this image. It was somewhere between a "d'aww" and a blubbering "squee."

Come on, admit it — you know exactly what noise I'm talking about.

You've probably made it at least once. Your eyes probably even welled up a bit with tears, whether you admit to it or not.

We're talking that level of cute.

There's something just a little bit more special when it's a pet other than a cat or dog that's being helped.

Many people are willing to spend the money to help their family dog recover from an injury, but those same people may laugh at the idea of going to the same expense for "a rodent."

While the image went viral after it was posted to Reddit by a user named GeorgeOnee, it was originally shared by a veterinary clinic in Petrozavodsk, Russia.

The post, which was made on Russian social media site VK, says, "Doctor Maria Firsova splinted a limping hamster. Now it looks like this :)."

It's unclear whether Redditor GeorgeOnee is the hamster's owner or if they just found the image and decided to share it more widely.

Some people thought that the pic was more sad than cute.

While I agree that the idea of any animal being hurt is sad, when the photo is of the animal after it's been helped, the heartwarming side is stronger.

A lot of people might ignore a "rodent" in need, but these tiny creatures were helped.

Someone saw them and thought that they were worth the time, trouble, and possible cost to take them to a vet for help.

And anyway, tiny things are cute. Because science.

Put a teeny tiny cast on a teeny tiny animal and whatever parts of our brain evolved to react to such things will light up like a Christmas Tree.

So I, for one, am grateful to behold such cuteness and am happy that even the tiniest creatures are getting the help they need to grow strong and healthy.
