Fans Call Out Jim Carrey For Insulting Margot Robbie On 'The Graham Norton Show'

Fans on Twitter are calling out Jim Carrey for making a "creepy" and "condescending" joke while speaking to Margot Robbie on The Graham Norton Show.

Here's the scoop!

Celebrities are often alerted of their shortcomings on Twitter. It's just the way of the web in 2020.

And Jim Carrey is no exception!

After taking a "creepy" joke three steps too far, Twitter is not letting him hear the end of it anytime soon.

On Friday, during his time on "The Graham Norton Show", Jim Carrey made a distasteful joke toward Margot Robbie, and fans are not having it.

While Margot was able to laugh it off in the moment, her fans have been rushing to her defense on Twitter.

Were Jim's intentions to insult Margot? I would bet money that the answer to that is a hard "no".

But, he did leave a sour taste in the mouths of his fans by making a borderline sexist joke that the entire world and Margot probably could have gone without.

Here's what happened:

While playfully singing Margot's praises, Jim made a joke that, essentially, diminished her talent entirely and credited her success only to her good looks.

He basically said that if not for her beauty, she wouldn't have gotten as far as she has in her career.

"You’re really something, Margot Robbie," he began.

"It’s incredible you got as far as you have with your obvious physical disadvantages."

"That's pure talent there," he said, sarcastically. "Just a talent override."

While the point he was probably trying to make is that Margot is stunning — which I'm sure we can all agree with — he certainly stepped on her toes in the process.

It probably wasn't necessary of him to stress so much that she owes her talent to her good looks, however...

Fans have speculated that Jim may have not made such a comment had he been sitting next to a famous male actor, like Leonardo DiCaprio or Brad Pitt.

Suggesting that he felt emboldened sitting next to a woman.

Other fans have been praising Margot Robbie for keeping her cool and seeming so unphased under pressure.

If Jim, or anyone else, needed proof that she is, in fact, a great actor and not just a pretty face — there you have it!

This person called out Jim for making an insensitive joke and reassured Margot that she is as talented as she is beautiful.

Just because she is attractive doesn't mean she lacks substance or skill!

This person pointed out that that wasn't Jim's only inappropriate joke of the night toward Margot.

After mentioning that he has never been to Australia, He supposedly asked her, sarcastically, if she is aboriginal.

Other people, however, have defended Jim, saying that he would have made the joke no matter who he was seated next to.

There is no way to know for sure, but he has been goofy and outspoken his entire career, there's a good chance he might have made a similar joke to a good-looking male actor as well.

This person thinks that labeling Jim as "creepy" after making one bad joke is overkill.

There are plenty of comedians out there who have made bad jokes and haven't been blacklisted. Maybe he deserves the peanut gallery to cut him some slack?

Some think that being in show business and being in the same room as a well-known comedian, Margot should know not to take what he says too personally.

Comedians have been known to make inappropriate jokes at the expense of other people's feelings — that is true.

It could be safe to assume that Jim's joke is not actually reflection of his personal views, but rather, something he said that was calculated to get laughs.

For all we know, maybe Jim apologized to Margot after the show for making her the punchline of his joke.
