A Twitter User Proved That There Are Only 10 Types Of Movie Posters

Something that has probably never crossed your mind but is, in fact, profoundly true, is that there are millions of movies out there, and only about 10 types of movie posters, according to a user on Twitter that just blew the case wide open!

Twitter user, @leesteffen recently brought something pretty alarming to our attention.

There are countless movies that have been made, countless unique storylines and characters.

But apparently, there are only 10 types of movie posters.

In a thread, @leesteffen broke down all 10 categories of movie posters, with photo examples to back up his argument.

It's going to blow your mind.

1. Orange and blue action.

Is there something about the colors orange and blue that are directly associated with action films?

How have we never noticed this before?

2. Sexy legs.

Okay, this one is SO true.

There are way too many movies that have anonymous women's legs on the front cover that hardly have anything to do with the actual movie.

3. Blurry cop.

I sort of understand this one.

They're portraying movement. The cop is on the move! But you'd think after the first five covers, they'd try to start being more original?

4. Leaning Couple.

This bothers me because it's true.

What an unnatural pose.

Name me ONE couple that has ever candidly stood back-to-back in real life. I'll wait.

5. Black back.

6. Red dress.

Red dresses are bright, bold, and loud — naturally eye-catching. But enough is enough. They have let this one go on for way too long!

7. Black and orange.

What I gather is that the blue and orange action movie posters and the black and orange movie posters are basically one and the same.

8. Moody and misty.

This one is so cliché! Every time I see a movie poster with mist on it, I immediately assume that it's going to be something like Last Song.

9. Eye.

Ugh. Again, painfully accurate.

Whoever curates these types of movie posters probably thinks they're being edgy and artistic, but really, they're just being predictable.

10. Yellow.

I spot one movie poster in the bottom row that is not only yellow, but it also has a woman's legs on it. Two birds with one stone!

Bonus: Tom Cruise profile.

I gotta hand it to Tom Cruise for knowing his most flattering angle and sticking to it. Repeatedly.

I can only imagine what his Instagram feed would look like...

Well, I have to give credit where credit is due.

The fact that somebody actually took the time to compile all of these movie covers just for our benefit is honorable and impressive.

What do you think of these 11 different types of movie posters?
