Macaulay Culkin Opens Up About Relationship With Michael Jackson: 'Right Now Is A Good Time To Speak Up'

Actor and musician Macaulay Culkin, best known for his role as precocious Kevin McAllister in the iconic Home Alone series, has often been questioned on his close friendship with late musician Michael Jackson.

It's no secret that Macaulay Culkin grew up having a close relationship with Michael Jackson.

In 2019, Macaulay was interviewed on the "Inside Of You" podcast about his friendship with Michael.

He explained that Jackson reached out to him because he was quickly rising to fame as a child star.

"I think he identified with that. At the end of the day, it's almost easy to say it was weird or whatever, but it wasn't because it made sense," he revealed.

"He was [expletive] awesome. He was funny, he was sweet — people didn't know how funny he was."

"I was a peerless person."

"Nobody at my Catholic school even had this much idea of what I was going through and he was the person who had been through the exact same thing and wanted to make sure I wasn't alone," he went on.

In a new interview with Esquire magazine, Macaulay opened up yet again about how he felt about the late king of pop.

When asked about the child abuse allegations against Michael Jackson, Macaulay responded.

"He never did anything to me."

"I never saw him do anything," he said.

"And especially at this flashpoint in time, I’d have no reason to hold anything back."

"The guy has passed on. If anything — I’m not gonna say it would be stylish or anything like that, but right now is a good time to speak up," Macaulay added.

Macaulay insisted if there was something for him to tell, he would.

"And if I had something to speak up about, I would totally do it. But no, I never saw anything," he said.

Macaulay also revealed fellow movie star James Franco once awkwardly broached the subject on an airplane.

“It was right after the documentary Leaving Neverland came out, and he goes, ‘So, that documentary!’ … I was like, ‘Uh-huh.’ Silence. So then he goes, ‘So what do you think?’"

"And I turned to him and I go, ‘Do you wanna talk about your dead friend?'"

"And he sheepishly went, ‘No, I don’t.’ So I said, ‘Cool, man, it was nice to see you.’”

I think it's probably safe to say that Macaulay considers this topic closed.
