'Recess' Voice Actor Jason Davis Has Died At 35

Actor Jason Davis, best known for his voice acting work on Recess, had died, his mother confirms to The Hollywood Reporter.

Davis was best known for his voice acting work on "Recess," playing the role of 'Mikey' Blumberg.

He also had small parts on Roseanne and 7th Heaven as well as in Rush Hour and Beverly Hills Ninja.

At the time of his death, he was working on a TV show, The Two Jasons.

"I am so heartbroken to share the saddest news of my life that my son Jason Davis passed away this morning in Los Angeles," his mother Nancy shared.

"Jason had a true heart of gold with such a zest for life. He was such a caring soul to everybody who ever knew him."

Davis had been open about his struggles with substance abuse.

He appeared on Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew in 2010 and 2011.

Recently, however, he had co-founded the charity Cure Addiction Now and had dedicated himself to the organization for over a year and a half.

Fans of Jason's work have taken to social media to share their condolences and grief.

Many fans who grew up with Recess felt a special connection to his work as Mikey and took to Twitter to express this feeling.

Fans expressed their gratitude for Davis being able to bring Mikey to life.

"You helped make all of our childhoods a little bit brighter," wrote one fan in a tribute.

Many fans had felt a personal connection with Mikey's kindness and empathy.

"I grew up on his character and on the show when I was little ... I used to watch it at my grandma's house and I loved it! May he rest in peace and thank you so much for bringing a great character like that to life," shared one fan on Instagram.

The show and Davis' involvement was a big part of many childhoods.

"My childhood was truly fun every time Mikey Blumberg came across the screen," shared one fan on twitter.

Davis' friends have also shared messages of love and support on social media.

"I’m so so sad about Jason Davis... my dear friend of over a decade. You were always building that empire and had a heart of gold. I will forever miss that laugh of yours. May you always stay young in our memories now," wrote one friend on Instagram.
