Artist Transforms Barbie Dolls Into Celebrities And Pop Culture Characters

When I was little, I really wanted a Barbie. Since my parents weren't that well off it took them a while to buy me the doll, and I gotta tell you, it was definitely worth the wait. I treasured my first Barbie like nothing else.

So when I stumbled upon this cool Instagram account that features Barbies as famous celebrities and pop culture icons it brought me back to my childhood.

Instagram user @aaronmalibu seems to love Barbies just as much as girls everywhere.

He came up with a really creative way to showcase them. Just look at his fun pictures.

He poses the dolls as characters from Disney, Marvel, and DC.

Aaron posts his Barbie recreations to his popular Instagram account. He also does famous celebrities like JLo, Rihanna, and others.

I guess it's his way to pay homage to the Barbie culture as well as pop culture all in one.

I gotta say, it's really fun to see.

I dunno how he does it really, but I suspect it's a combination of the dolls themselves and a bit of Photoshop magic.

Either way, it looks fantastic. Doesn't it?

Check out his cool version of Harley Quinn impersonating Marilyn Monroe from the new "Birds of Prey" movie.

This reminds me of my treasured Marilyn Monroe Barbie collectible.

If you ever watched "Charmed", you'll totally get this reference.

I was so obsessed with this show and the Halliwell sisters. Ha, ha. So this is bringing some memories, too.

All the X-Men fans, myself included, will love this gorgeous recreation of the beloved character, Storm.

She is as fierce and regal as Aaron makes her look here.

And speaking of fierce, this Wonder Woman scene literally kicks butt.

This Tonner doll version definitely brings out the best in the Gal Gadot's character and then some.

Oh, I just adore this Megara and Hercules romantic scene.

It's so well captured here, it looks like a snapshot from a movie. This is stylized perfectly for sure.

How fun is the Scooby-Doo scene here?

I remember watching this show as a kid, and it's so awesome to see it recreated so perfectly by the talented Aaron.

I just love the use of gold colors in this recreation of "Beauty and the Beast".

This looks absolutely stunning, doesn't it? This guy is definitely having fun with it.

Talk about a dream collab here.

Three pop stars in one video — that's some undertaking. I wonder what drama went on behind the scenes here. One can only guess, hee, hee.

Aaron put together this sweet little number to celebrate "Mary Poppins'" 55th anniversary, and I gotta say, I really like it.

Talk about some old school charm here.

Aaron used this vintage Barbie in such a cool way. He totally transformed her into a pretty accurate version of Cinderella.

Don't you think? Ha, ha, ha. This is classic.

Speaking of Cinderella, how do you like his homage to Brandy here? I think this doll looks very close to the real thing.

I gotta give him props for that.

And how sweet is this little scene from "Aladdin"? I think every little girl can appreciate this sweet moment here.

I know it brings some memories for me. Indeed.

Isn't Aurora absolutely stunning here? I wonder what she is thinking about. Probably just dreaming about her very own prince charming.

Can you blame her?

Here's a cool retro throwback all the way to "The Great Gatsby". Doesn't Barbie fit so well in this old school scenery here?

This guy has the flair for drama.

This Black Cat always lands on her feet. No doubt about that.

She's as fierce as any other famous character out there.

And, here's Aaron's take on modern versions of Aurora and Ariel if they were girlfriends just hanging out today.

I think this is such a fun reimagining.

Who needs enemies when you can all just be friends? If only all Disney characters could make amends like this. Right?

Well, in this case, it totally works.

This photo pays homage to one of the best classics, "Gone with the Wind". If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

Those hours spent in front of the TV were worth it for Aaron.

Who knew you could have so much creative fun with Barbie dolls?

This Instagram account is such a joy to follow. No wonder it already has almost 55,000 fans.
