9+ Smart Beauty Hacks We Learned From The Internet

We take hacks seriously in the beauty world. There are some that can make your life way easier (baking your under eyes to catch fallout from eyeshadow, for example), and some that are so fake you can spot their BS from a mile away.

This list? This is the former. Let's hack your way to better makeup, hold the BS.

So, that under eye bake hack.

Giphy

This is a personal favorite of mine, because it works damn well. Before applying eyeshadow that you know has fallout, might be too dark, or has a lot of glitter, powder under your eyes and cheeks with a generous layer of powder.

You can wipe away the fallout and the powder all in one go when you're done!

Curl your hair with a flat iron.

Short a curling iron, or just too lazy to pull yours out? No problem. @cosette on Tik Tok has you covered: Simply wrap your hair around one side of your flat iron and gently pull it downward.

Boom, instant curls.

Use Vaseline to avoid painting the skin around your nails.

WikiHow

Hello, super helpful hack. Before you start painting your nails, put a little Vaseline around the nail itself.

After you're done painting, simply wipe it off. The excess paint will go with it!

Eliminate dark areas with opposite-colored pigments.

Sure, we all know that you can cancel out redness with a green color corrector, but did you know you can do more than that?

Orange-tinted color correctors can help wipe out the blue from under your eyes. Who knew?

But, if that isn't enough:

Skip the color corrector altogether, according to Jackie Aina.

If that corrector is failing you entirely, it's probably not pigmented enough. Go for a full-coverage concealer that has strong orange/red undertones for under your eyes.

Also, maybe just watch all of Jackie's videos. She's a genius.

Slightly overdraw your lips.

SLIGHTLY. If you want a more full lip, very gently move your lip liner slightly above your lip.

Remember, we're going for slightly plump lips — not the Kylie Jenner lip challenge. Use a light hand!

Conceal in a triangle.

Opt out of dots, and opt in to triangles.

Using a lighter concealer under your eyes in that triangle shape helps bring light to the center of your face.

Using dots just highlights under the eye. The shape changes the light!

Use dry shampoo before you sleep.

You know the routine: wake up, spray dry shampoo in your hair, figure out the rest of your day.

What if I told you spraying it before you go to bed makes that dry shampoo way more effective? It'll absorb the oils in your hair as they form, not afterward. Genius!

Glasses wearers, our time has come:

There is nothing worse than having your makeup rub off (or gunk up, ew) under your glasses nose pad.

TikTok user @glameanne's solution? Put eyeshadow primer on your nose, then powder. It'll help it stick!

Apply powder to your lips to make your lipstick... stick.

Okay, so here's the tea: After you've applied your lip color of choice, place a tissue over your lips. Then dust translucent powder lightly against the tissue. It'll set your lipstick and help it last all day.

Tailor your eyeshadow to your eye shape.

Not all eyes are created equal! Depending on your eyelid and brow bone shape, you can change up how you apply your eyeshadow to allow for maximum lift.

For example, if you have monolids, try blending your eyeshadow up, not out.

Wet your eyeshadow brush for maximum pigment.

If you're finding that the eyeshadow on your lid isn't as vibrant as it is in the pan, gently mist your brush with some setting spray or water. Then give your eyeshadow another shot!

This works especially well with glitter or metallic eyeshadows!

Make nail color pop with a white base.

Essie

Have a color you love, but it's just too sheer for your liking? Pick up a basic white nail polish and use that as a base. It'll help the top color pop!

Don't bother with the color rules.

Matching your eyeshadow palette to your eye color is so last century. You can make any color work for you with the right shades and a lot of blending. Don't be afraid of color — embrace it!

Painlessly remove your false lashes with a mascara wand.

Instead of attempting to pluck those lashes with your fingers, after you've applied the lash removal gel, grab a clean mascara wand. The bristles will effortlessly pull those lashes off in seconds.
