Extravagant Baroque-Style Wigs Are Made Completely Out Of Paper

Humans have a fascination with hair. Either there is too much or not enough on our heads, it's not the color we like, it's not growing fast enough, or our hair dresser messed up and cut too much off. So, people turn to extensions, toppers, and wigs to customize their hair to their liking.

But, wigs actually have a long history, dating all the way back to 2700 B.C.E. in Egypt. It wasn't until the 17th century that wigs were truly the epitome of refined fashion. The more elaborate or "extra" they were, the more rich you looked.

Two Russian artists, absolutely fascinated with this time period, have created their own super extra wigs completely out of paper, giving ones from the past a run for their money.

Asya Kozina and Dmitriy Kozin are the Russian artists responsible for creating the incredibly detailed and extravagant baroque-style wigs.

What's even more amazing is that they're completely made out of paper.

"Historical wigs always fascinated me, especially the Baroque era," Asya writes on their website.

Baroque style is all about drama and emotion, and these wigs certainly do not lack either of those qualities.

Asya and Dmitry express on their website that baroque wigs from the 17th century were often adorned with flowers, fruits, and even stuffed birds to show one's wealth.

In the spirit of that "extra-ness," as the kids might call it today, the duo chose to feature more modern conspicuous examples of wealth, like airplanes, skyscrapers, ships, and even castles.
