Alanis Morissette Confronts Her Past And Attends Alcoholics Anonymous In Emotional New Music Video

You might say that Alanis Morissette is one of the most iconic musicians of all time.

Her album, Jagged Little Pill made her a huge sensation in the '90s, and many of us have kept her on our radars ever since, waiting for new music.

Thankfully, that time is now! Alanis just released an emotional music video for her new song "Reasons I Drink", and fans are loving it.

It's hard to believe that it has been nearly 25 years since Alanis Morissette released her iconic '90s album, "Jagged Little Pill".

While many of us still listen to "Ironic" on a regular basis (and by "many of us," I mean me), Alanis has come a long way since then.

For several years, she's been laying low, focusing on her family.

She and her husband, Mario "Souleye" Treadway, are parents to three kiddos.

So, I can only imagine she has had her hands full!

But over the last year or so, things are seemingly starting to pick up for Alanis, professionally, once again!

The songstress was recently honored with the Icon Award at the "Billboard" Women in Music event in December.

During her acceptance speech, she opened up about what it was like to work with some men in the music industry in the '90s.

“I wanna salute the women who go to work who are really, really sensitive, and are terrified… and still go," she began.

She explained that in her heyday, she “really wanted to be friends with these artists who were touring at the same time" as her.

"It was challenging, because if there was not going to be any sex or any kind of romantic interaction, then they didn’t know what to do with me. So they ignored me backstage," she said.

“I was called an elephant man, I was loved and ignored, and adored and hated, then I was considered really hip, and then totally irrelevant, and then totally relevant again".

“Thank you patriarchy, for crumbling and falling,” she concluded.

Now, Alanis is getting even more real with her fans...

She released a new music video yesterday, for her song "Reasons I Drink".

Not only are the lyrics emotionally gripping, but so are the visuals.

The video begins with a disgruntled-looking Alanis sitting in an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting.

As the camera shifts, it shows different versions of her from the past that fans are likely familiar with.

"These are the reasons I drink," the lyrics read. "The reasons I tell everybody I'm fine even though I am not".

"These are the reasons I overdo it

I have been working since I can remember, since I was single digits".

"And these are the reasons I don't even think I would quit".

"And these are the reasons I can't even see straight And these are the ones whom I know it so deeply affects And I am left wondering how I would I function without it".

At one point in the video, a priest walks in, sits down, and puts his hand on Alanis' shoulder.

Some fans have speculated that this is symbolism for forgiveness.

"And here are the reasons I eat Reasons I feel everything so deeply when I'm not medicated," the lyrics continue.

"And so that's it, I am buying a Lamborghini To make up for these habits, to survive this sick industry".

So far, fans are loving Alanis' comeback song.

Everyone seems to be happy that she is back, doing the thing that she loves, and doing it well.

Most of all, fans couldn't get over her famous "Ironic" music video look.

It's so great to see her referencing her own music and style choices from the '90s.

The beanie and scarf were a game changer.
