As the pandemic, COVID-19, continues to spread, causing deaths, panic, toilet paper hoarding, and cabin fever, Netflix and Google have found a way to make social distancing slightly more bearable!

Have A Virtual 'Netflix Party' With Friends To Get Through Social Distancing
Unless you've literally been living under a rock, or at a silent meditation retreat like Jared Leto for the last couple of weeks, you're probably well-aware of the very strange and deeply concerning times we're living in.
Gyms, bars, restaurants, and shopping centers are shutting down, sporting leagues are suspending their seasons, travel bans are being implemented, and festivals and concerts are being postponed.
Basically, anywhere a crowd can form is shutting down indefinitely.
Furthermore, some countries, including Canada and the United States, have closed their borders to all non-essential travel.
There have been over 200,000 reported cases in total, over 80,000 of which have recovered.
So far, the death toll has reached over 8000, globally.
Everyone is being strongly encouraged to stay home for the next couple of weeks to help lessen the spread of the virus.
And while this is posing a huge inconvenience for most people, for those trying to find the silver lining, it has become a time to stay indoors, reconnect with hobbies, clean, workout, relax, or catch up on their favorite TV shows.
It's definitely a bummer that we won't be able to socialize for the next little while. But Netflix and Google Chrome have taken action to make things marginally more tolerable for us all!
Enter: Netflix Party.
Since we're all going to be cooped up inside watching a crap ton of Netflix, why not watch it with your friends?

There's now a Google Chrome extension that allows you to sync movies and TV shows with your friends and watch at the same time.
AND it has a group chat feature.

So, not only can you watch shows and movies with your friends from afar in unison, you can also easily chat with them about whatever you're watching.
Apparently, this feature has actually existed for a while, but is only now becoming popular, given the world's current predicament.
TBH, screen-sharing movies and TV shows and group chats, in combination with social media and FaceTime is hardly going to feel like I'm alone.
So far, everyone quarantining themselves in their homes seems to be taking full advantage of "Netflix Party" and loving it.

This is what everybody's squad is going to look like eating all of their quarantine snacks, binge watching "The Witcher".
A total game changer!
"We are never going outside again," sounds about right!
We officially have everything we need to hunker down and never go outside ever again.
Movie dates are no longer canceled!
You can still technically cozy-up on the couch, drink wine, eat snacks, and watch a movie with your boo.
When this is all over, we may all be pale af, malnutritioned, out of shape, but at least we'll have watched every single thing on Netflix at the same time as our best pals.
There's a light at the end of the tunnel!
This is also a great way to connect with people while totally maintaining your privacy.
That's the dream if you ask me!
