Chrissy Teigen Claps Back After Ivanka Trump Tweets Quarantine Suggestion

Tensions are high during this period where we should all be self-isolating to help flatten the curve and slow the spread of the coronavirus. It only makes sense that as people get bored at home and frustrated with the situation, they might start lashing out and picking fights on social media. Celebrities aren't above that.

Information about the coronavirus pandemic is rapidly changing and Diply is committed to providing the most recent data as it becomes available. Some of the information in this story may have changed since publication, and we encourage readers to use online resources from CDC and WHO to stay up to date on the latest information surrounding COVID-19.

If you know Chrissy Teigen, you know she doesn't take much lying down.

She's known for being sassy, speaking her mind, and generally not being afraid to tweet whatever she wants, even when it comes to one of the advisors to the President of the United States.

It started with a tweet from Ivanka Trump, daughter of and advisor to President Donald Trump.

Ivanka shared a picture of her with her children in a home-made tent, offering a suggestion of playing "living room camp out" to keep you and your children busy while being stuck at home.

Chrissy's response was definitely not friendly.

Chrissy asked "[...] can we please have Covid tests", referring to the lack of testing available for the majority of the public who think they might have been infected.

Chrissy also pointed out that the tentpoles Ivanka referred to as brooms looked like a clothing rack.

While some fans appreciated Chrissy bringing attention to this issue, others felt like Chrissy wasn't accomplishing anything, with one fan tweeting, "You sure do a lot of complaining from your couch."

What do you think?

Bravo

Was Chrissy expressing her frustration with the current situation in an understandable way, or should she have stuck to more productive measures?

Some people felt it was a bit ironic, given that Chrissy had recently been criticized for her own 'tone-deaf' pandemic related tweet.

Earlier this week, Chrissy was criticized for tweeting, "This is not an ad but if you’re holed up at home, ordering America’s best food from Goldbelly is the way to go right now. Currently shipping clam chowder from Boston to myself."

This was apparently not a good move, with some people calling out Chrissy for tweeting about ordering soup while there are people in the world without the resources to do so.

"It's not about the soup. Never was. It's about people being scared about not having enough resources, who can't do what you do... isolated people using social media to connect, and if they see something like that, and then feel worse, because they can't," explained Mammoths Unearthed host Trevor Valle in his response.

Chrissy defended herself, saying that Valle and others criticizing her were reading too much into her tweet.

Chrissy added that "supporting places that need it" was better than not doing anything, and also noted that the reaction to her original tweet was not in good faith. "It's not deeper than that. [Y]ou really want me to be horrible."

She also tweeted in defense of Vanessa Hudgens' facing backlash for saying deaths from coronavirus were 'inevitable.'

Chrissy was tweeting saying that people needed to lighten up on famous people for what they say online, which some fans felt was hypocritical given how she reacted to Ivanka.
