Kevin Bacon Starts '6 Degrees' Social Distancing Campaign To Show Who You're Staying Home For

Social distancing can be tough. We've all got things we want to do and events we wish we could go to, but it's important we stay home to slow the spread of the virus and flatten the curve so we don't overload the health care system. Even more than that, though, we need to protect our loved ones, and their loved ones.

The idea is that anyone in the world, particularly other actors, can be connected back to Kevin Bacon in six or less steps.

For instance: Keanu Reeves was in The Watcher with Marisa Tomei, who was in Crazy, Stupid, Love with Kevin Bacon.

That's only two steps!

Kevin is now using that game to emphasize how important it is to socially distance yourself.

He took to Instagram to explain.

"Right now, like people around the world, I’m staying home, because it saves lives and it is the only way we’re going to slow down the spread of this coronavirus.”

He explained that we are all less than six degrees away from someone vulnerable.

“Because the contact that you make with someone, who makes contact with someone else, that may be what makes somebody’s mom or grandpa or wife sick," Kevin said.

"Every one of us has someone who is worth staying home for,” he said.

“I am staying home for Kyra Sedgwick,” Kevin revealed, holding up a sign that said the same, referring to his wife.

Kevin then encouraged people to share who they were staying home for.

Other celebs joined in and have been sharing who they are staying home for.

Bebe Rexha shared that she's staying home for her grandma, her friends, family and her fans.

Demi Lovato said that she was staying home for her parents, her neighbors, and her health.
