Miley Cyrus Says Social Distancing Has Brought Her 'Peace' And 'Fulfillment'

As the coronavirus pandemic rages on, keeping people stuck inside their homes day after day, some of us are choosing to make the most of our alone time, rather than stewing in our boredom.

Like Miley Cyrus! She recently revealed that social distancing has actually brought her "peace" and "fulfillment".

Right now, if you're a decent, considerate human being whose job has been deemed non-essential, you are kindly distancing yourself from others, staying at home, going stir-crazy.

And if you're anything like me, things are starting to get weird...

I'm not even going to try and pretend like I haven't wearing the same sweatpants every day this week.

And I may have already eaten all of my quarantine snacks...

It's not easy to isolate yourself from friends, family, and colleagues.

It forces us to spend a lot of time with ourselves, which opens the door to a lot of self-reflection and soul-searching — something we may have been putting off for a while.

While some of us feel like we're on the brink of insanity (and by some of us, I mean me), others are using this alone time to their advantage.

Like by staying productive — reorganizing their closet, learning a new recipe, drawing, writing, or exercising.

Shout out to all the introverts out there who are thriving rn, living the dream.

Don't forget to look up from your novels every once in a while and check on your extrovert friends. We're not doing so well.

Anyways, via FaceTime, Miley Cyrus told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe yesterday that social distancing is bringing her a certain amount of positive enlightenment.

She explained that it has been tough being away from her family, but she has been compensating by connecting with her fans more online.

"I think I miss the safety of being able to be around my family,” she said.

“What do I miss of the outside world — of going to the studio or whatever, I don’t really miss that."

"Because, connecting with my fans every day is something that I really have been missing, probably since Hannah Montana.”

“Even you and I just having this chat feels less alone,” she explained.

Surprisingly, Miley feels closer to people from home than she did in the outside world.

“I just, I feel like I connected more with the outside world inside than I did on the outside.”

She also explained that COVID-19 has had a positive effect on the environment, and hopes it makes others realize what the world would be like if humans were kinder to our planet.

“We’re starting to see what it would look like if we actually started treating the world more responsibly," she said

"So getting this little, kind of breath of fresh air and a little vision for us to actually see physically what would happen if we actually really focused on climate change."

“The fires did that for me," she said referencing the California wildfires that burnt down her Malibu home in 2018.

"I got to focus on that," she recalled.

"I got to focus on things that worked out and things that didn’t, and what I did or could’ve done or didn’t do.”

She said that she has also been using this time to reflect on some of the choices she's made in the past.

She admitted that while some of her decisions haven't been “the finest,” she regrets nothing.

“I would do them again because they got me right where I am," she said.

"And right now I’m connecting with people on a level that’s really fulfilling."

“I can’t say that I’ve really had that over the last few years consistently. This has been consistent fulfillment.”

I'm so glad to hear that Miley has been enjoying her social distancing period. You go, girl!
