Being in isolation is tough. Not being able to see any of your friends is tough. I can't be the only one who's starting to go just a teeny, tiny bit insane... right?

Right??

Well, if you're also starting to feel madness creeping in, don't worry because I think I've just found the perfect way for you to pass the time while also feel close to your friends again, no matter how far away they are.

There's an online version of Cards Against Humanity that's totally free and totally a life-saver during social distancing.

As Business Insider reported, the virtual card table website Playingcards.io offers you and your friends the chance to gather together and play the popular adult card game, even if you can't physically gather together right now.

Simply pull up the website and pretend it's suddenly 2019 again and everything is fine in the world and there's definitely no reason for you to be stuck in your house for weeks on end.

I'm sure we all know how Cards Against Humanity works, but if not, here's a quick reminder.

One player picks a card with some sort of prompt on it, and the rest of the players have to choose a response to that prompt from the cards they have in their own hands.

You can be funny, you can be raunchy, you can be totally random, or you can try to submit the most reasonable response possible. The first player picks which card they like the best, and the game continues.

The online version operates much the same way, just without your friends sitting right beside you.

You create a virtual room through the website, send your friends a link to that room, and you're all set to play.

The rules are the same just like if you were playing in real life: someone plays the judge for each round, players submit their best responses to a prompt, etc. And even though it's online, your hand will still be kept private so no players can sneak a peek.

I will say that after playing a few rounds with my own friends, I've got a few suggestions to make the game play a bit better.

First of all, I strongly recommend you set up some sort of video call with the other players so communication can be as painless as possible. There doesn't seem to be any sort of a chat option through the website itself, so being able to talk to each other will make the game significantly easier to play.

Also, keep in mind that the online version only allows six players at a time, so don't make my mistake and invite one too many people to play. Little awkward.

When all is said and done, playing the game in real life is certainly preferable, but this is still a great option for when that just isn't a possibility.

The world has been turned on its head, and I know a lot of us are probably struggling to adjust and keep ourselves in a positive state of mind while dealing with everything that's going on.

If nothing else, stopping to play such a fun, lighthearted game with your friends, even if just for a few hours, will offer you a much-needed break from the craziness and might even remind you what life was like before all this ever started.

Happy playing!
