Bill Withers, a three-time Grammy Award winning musician, has passed away at the age of 81, his family confirms.
Withers retired from making music in the mid 1980's, but his impact on the world has stood the test of time.
"A solitary man with a heart driven to connect to the world at large, with his poetry and music, he spoke honestly to people and connected them to each other," the statement continued.
"In this difficult time, we pray his music offers comfort and entertainment as fans hold tight to loved ones," the statement finished.
Withers was 81. Our thoughts are with Withers' friends, fans, family, and loved ones during this tragic time.
Rest in peace.
