'Lean On Me' Singer Bill Withers Dies At 81

Bill Withers, a three-time Grammy Award winning musician, has passed away at the age of 81, his family confirms.

Withers' most famous hits included 'Lean On Me,' 'Lovely Day,' and 'Ain't No Sunshine.'

Withers retired from making music in the mid 1980's, but his impact on the world has stood the test of time.

"We are devastated by the loss of our beloved, devoted husband and father," a statement by the family reads.

"A solitary man with a heart driven to connect to the world at large, with his poetry and music, he spoke honestly to people and connected them to each other," the statement continued.

"As private a life as he lived close to intimate family and friends, his music forever belongs to the world."

"In this difficult time, we pray his music offers comfort and entertainment as fans hold tight to loved ones," the statement finished.

The family confirmed that Withers passed away due to heart complications.

Withers was 81. Our thoughts are with Withers' friends, fans, family, and loved ones during this tragic time.
