Driver Tells Police He’s On A 170-Mile-Trip To Escape Wife And Kids

One man's decidedly un-essential trip has been spreading across social media after it was reported that he had been taking a 170-mile round trip in order to just get some time out of the house!

Staying indoors may be difficult, but is very necessary at present.

Being trapped inside can lead to feeling stressed and anxious, however, it is crucial to maintain inside not just for your own safety, but for the safety of your family and everyone else.

However, staying indoors has also lead to some families getting on each other's nerves somewhat!

For one man, the pressure of staying indoors with his family had grown too great.

The BMW-driving male driver was spotted by police offers over the Easter weekend by Police officers from Devon, Cornwall, and Dorset in England.

When he was pulled over on the A30 near Launceston, the officers deemed that his reasons for travel were definitely non-essential.

The man was on a 170-mile round trip to get away from his family!

A lot of the responses to the tweet were from people angry at the man for breaking the lockdown:

"Will these idiots never learn? 12 month ban might help him understand."

"Why do people whine about being 'stuck' at home? I understand children complaining as they don't always appreciate the reasoning behind this, but adults?"

However, there was a surprisingly high amount who thought that the man should be allowed out:

"Yes it is essential. You're the one who is not being reasonable. You are lucky that you can get out of the home. Many of us trapped at home are going stir crazy and need a break from each other. Start thinking from our point of view, not as a tyrant."

"This is just another example of higher powers abusing 'control' and or showing very limited or a shallow view on what’s real! Cars don’t spread viruses."

This man was not the only one to be caught by Alliance Roads Policing either!

The Alliance Roads Policing's Twitter page also tweeted the above picture of a man collecting a second-hand boat he had purchased, writing:

"Driving across the county (and then breaking down on a hill) to collect the second hand boat you just bought is not an essential journey either."

This inspired such passionate responses as:

"I bet that he had a sinking feeling when you moored alongside!"

"Smash the boat up for firewood, issue £1000 fines per person and send them home."

"Well done and huge thanks for keeping us safe from the ignorant and stupid who think themselves above the rules."

Hopefully more people will begin to understand the severity of maintaining the lockdown procedures.

The Alliance Roads Policing Twitter page also warned that drug dealers may want to avoid the empty roads, due to the fact that they may stick out:

"Most people are on essential journeys. If you're hoping to take advantage of quiet roads for the drugs trade... Don't! You'll stick out like a sore thumb."

Self-isolation and lockdown procedures are in place to keep everyone safe, so hopefully, the Alliance Roads Policing units will have less to report on in the coming weeks!
