A Dad Built An Epic 'Star Wars'-Inspired Rocking Speeder Bike For Daughter's First Birthday

Many people can remember growing up with a rocking horse of sorts, but not many people may remember growing up with a rocking speeder bike inspired by the hovercraft bike from Star Wars. One little girl in Australia is pretty lucky to grow up with one of her own!

Instructables user Tez_Kilmer is the dad and genius behind this wild rocking chair.

He enjoys building projects for his kids, and thought his daughter deserved something real special for her first birthday.

If you don't remember the Speeder Bikes, see them here for yourself.

Are they coming back to you? They were used by Princess Leia, Luke Skywalker, and some Stormtroopers in Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

Tez thought these funky bikes would make a great rocking toy, but the project was certainly no small feat.

It's hard to believe he made the whole rocking toy from scratch, but he really did!

Not only did he construct everything out of wood, PVC, and 3D-printed parts, but he also installed electronic devices to produce sound and light, so the kids could feel like they were really hovering around.

Tez was very generous to share his very detail instructions on Instructables for those daring and patient enough to try themselves.

It's safe to say a lot of blood, sweat, tears, and love was put into this project!

I don't think many people can say they received such a hand-crafted gift for their first birthday, and this one will definitely be one to pass down through the family.
