Stephenie Meyer Announces New 'Twilight' Book From Edward's Perspective Coming In August

They say that waiting can make things better when they finally arrive, and hopefully that's true for the newest book announced by Twilight author Stephenie Meyer.

Previously, a mystery countdown had appeared on Meyer's website.

Nobody knew what the countdown was for, although some speculated that it was related to her series The Host, while others were hoping for a different announcement about Midnight Sun, which is a retelling of the first Twilight book from Edward's perspective that was first teased in 2008.

They were right! On May 4th, Meyer officially confirmed the release date for *Midnight Sun* as August 4th, 2020.

"I am very excited to finally, finally announce the release of Midnight Sun on August 4. It's a crazy time right now and I wasn't sure if this was the right time to put this book out, but some of you have been waiting for just so, so long," Meyer announced on Good Morning America.

"It didn't seem fair to make you wait anymore. Sorry about the bad timing. Hopefully this book can be a distraction from the real world."

“I hope this book gives my readers a little pleasure to anticipate and, if it arrives, a chance to live in an imaginary world for a while,” Meyer announced. “I can’t express how much I appreciate the patience of my readers, and their support over the years it took to finish Midnight Sun."

In 2008, Meyer had stated, "There is so much more to his side of the story than there is to Bella’s in that first chapter.”

“His side of Bella’s first day at Forks High School is a hundred times more exciting than her own.”

I don't know about you, but August 4th cannot get here fast enough for me!
