9+ Misleading Packaging Designs That Totally Ripped Us Off

Have you ever stumbled upon a product that looked better through advertising than it actually was in real life? Sadly, this seems to happen all the time.

Clever advertising lures us into believing a product is all that and a bag of chips, when in truth, the bag is actually half full. True story. Isn't that the most infuriating thing ever? It is to me. And these examples are just sad proof of that.

1. This Whiskey Bottle

Reddit

If you look at this bottle you would think you're buying whiskey, no? As this person found out it's just "with taste of whiskey." Ouch.

2. This Deodorant

Reddit | ThaiJohnnyDepp

If you've been buying the same stick of deodorant for years and now you notice it runs out faster, put it through the light test. How evil. That's only like...half a stick in there? If that?

3. This Veggie Sausage Rolls Pack

Reddit | bortina-badboy

If you think you're getting a great deal on a 12-pack of these veggie sausage rolls, think again. Just read the fine print. WTF? Why don't they just come out and say it? You're really only getting three rolls, folks.

4. This Waffle Hot Dog

Reddit | shigameh

I dunno who would eat a hot dog wrapped in a waffle on a stick — but that's another story. This, however, has no hot dog. So deceptive, although now that I look closely, that red line should have been a giveaway.

5. These Ham Slices

Here you thought you were going to make a meaty sandwich for yourself when all you ended up with is barely two slices. That's so terrible.

6. This Sandwich

Reddit | ink-a-doodle

When I buy grocery store pizza, this isn't what I have in mind. That little window in the box is like the perfect vision of deception. This is clever, but so, so wrong.

11. These Oranges

Reddit | Consensual_Rex

By the look of these oranges, you would think they were really orange in color, but sadly, it is just the mesh packaging they use. I hope they still tasted good, at least.

12. This Radiator Coolant

Reddit | freakame

Why would they put radiator coolant in a can that resembles beer? What if somebody drank this by mistake? Wow, that would be horrible.

13. This Huge Bottle

Companies routinely put their products in much bigger bottles, especially when it comes to supplements, to make you think you're getting more than you actually are. Such a waste!

15. This Gluten-Free And Organic Product

Reddit | TestZero

There's a reason people want to buy products that are gluten-free and organic, so how dare these guys try to cash in on that. One quick look at the ingredients shows us that this company is straight-up lying to customers.

16. This Actual Product

Don't you find it annoying when the package is so long you think the product is as well? This person surely does. Ugh. Wow.

17. This Ironic Product

Reddit | Vibe_Tribe_Inc

Why make the consumer think this Klondike bar is now smaller when you can just cut a hole out and hide it that way? Clever... but so evil.

21. These Crayons

Imgur

You might score some good deals when you shop at your local Asian supermarket but don't get too excited about these jumbo shrimp. It's totally deceiving.

If you think you always need to second-guess yourself when shopping, you're not alone.

With scams like these around, it would make anyone a nervous wreck. How annoying. Just remember to always read the fine print, and if it looks too good to be true, it probably is.
