Adopting a child is such an amazing thing for anyone to do, especially older children who are at risk of aging out of foster care. While it can be an incredibly difficult and emotional journey, it can also be one of the most rewarding experiences for both the person doing the adopting and the children getting adopted.
Musician Sia has just revealed that this is a journey she has gone on herself.
Last year, Sia made headlines when she paid for an entire grocery store's purchases for Thanksgiving, even though she attempted to do so anonymously and did not give her real name.
In an interview with The Morning Mash Up, Sia revealed that her desire to help others has lead her to something amazing.
"They were both 18. They’re both 19 years old now. They were aging out of the foster care system," Sia explained, adding "Yeah, and I love them."
Sia had expressed previous interest in adopting older children on her Twitter, although it is not currently known if her Tweets are connected to the finalized adoption she has gone through.
"They are both finding it pretty difficult, one more so than the other. But they’re both doing things that are really good for them right now, that are really helpful," Sia said. "They're doing a lot of educational stuff that's good for them."
While discussing musician Diplo, Sia revealed that she had mentioned to him, "I've decided to be single for the rest of my life and I just adopted a son."
