Fans Finally Got An Explanation Behind Awkward Pic Of Michael Cera And Aubrey Plaza At Chuck E. Cheese

If you're a big fan of Michael Cera and/or Aubrey Plaza, then there is a fairly good chance that you remember the famous Chuck E. Cheese photo that surfaced the Internet in the 2010s, leaving us all with about a million questions.

The good news is, every question you had about that photo is about to be resolved once and for all!

The 2010s were an amazing time for pop culture.

Taylor Swift was in her peak form, 21 Jumpstreet had just come out, Prince William and Kate Middleton got married, Lady Gaga wore a meat dress, Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries were married for 72 days, and Miley Cyrus was in her Bangerz phase — life was good.

The 2010s were also a very important time for Michael Cera and Aubrey Plaza.

At the time, it seemed like there were very few movies and TV shows that did not include Michael and Aubrey — not that I'm complaining.

It was great. I loved it.

Well, you might recall a certain photo of Michael and Aubrey at Chuck E. Cheese that was making its rounds on the web.

At the time, none of us really knew what to make of us. We had questions.

Why were they at Chuck E. Cheese?

Were they on a date?

Who's birthday party was it?

I mean, let's just take a moment to unpack this photo.

Michael looks even more awkward and confused than usual. But I love that he's being a good sport about taking the photo.

Aubrey's reaction also seems very on-brand for her!

Anyways, now, a full decade later, we are finally getting some insight on the story behind the infamous Chuck E. Cheese photo.

Believe it or not, despite all the buzz that has orbited the photo all these years, neither Michael, Aubrey, or any of the teenagers in the photo have acknowledged it.

Until now.

Earlier this week, Aubrey finally gave us some closure so we could all move on with our lives.

"I’m settling this once and for all," she tweeted. "YES THAT IS ME. THIS IS REAL LIFE. DEAL WITH IT. #ScottPilgrim #WatchWithTheAcademy".

But wait, it gets better.

The mystery teens in the photo also chimed in, giving us a fuller look at what actually went down.

And to be completley honest, it's so much funnier than a group of teens spotting celebrities and asking to take a photo with them.

"We were cerebrating my brothers b day in the back room of chuck E Cheese & suddenly they walk in and we freak out," one of the photographed teens, Daniela Coronado, tweeted.

"We asked if we could take a picture &they actually said NO but we still did ...they left right after. The staff was really mad at us," she added.

Tatiana Tenreyro, a writer at *Buzzfeed*, actually managed to contact Daniela directly and get even more information about that day.

"The location of this Chuck E. Cheese was in El Monte, California. It's a predominately low-income community," Daniela explained.

"This is important because it just adds to how odd we all thought it was for them to be there," she added.

The photo was taken in August of 2010 — Michael and Aubrey were dating at the time.

Does anyone even remember that relationship? I don't.

"It was my brother's 4th birthday and we were all in the back room reserved for parties," she continued.

"Most people don’t sit there, so I can see why [Michael and Aubrey] decided to sit there that day. My sister first noticed them and we all got really excited."

At the time, Michael's film *Scott Pilgrim vs. The World* had just come out and it was a point of fixation for most teens.

"All the parents were so confused because they had no idea why we were so excited — the struggle of first-gen kids," Daniela said.

"We ran up to their booth and my sister asked if we could take a picture".

Without waiting for confirmation from Michael or Aubrey, the teens assumed their poses.

"And before [Michael] could answer saying no, we were already posing," she said. Which, you know, is the way to do it.

She admitted that while it was exciting at the time, in hindsight, she can understand how it may have been annoying for Michael and Aubrey to be accosted by a group of teens while they were on a date.

"Looking back, I can honestly say we were all just so excited, and now we think of how obnoxious we must have been," she said.

So, there you have it. You never have to wonder how this photo came to be ever again.
