After All This Time, Fans Are Still Spotting Mistakes In 'Game Of Thrones'

The iconic fantasy series, Game Of Thrones may have come to an end in 2019, but die-hard eagle-eyed fans are still noticing errors in the earlier seasons that most of us never caught on to at the time.

But what better time to re-watch the series from the beginning and spot all the visual mistakes you missed the first time around, amirite?

There are small mistakes and inconsistencies in *most* TV shows — it comes with the territory!

But you have to admit, it's fascinating to spot an error that most people would have never noticed watching it through the first time.

During quarantine, it's only right to binge watch some of your favorite TV series', and many *Game Of Thrones* fans are doing just that.

And in the process, they're realizing several more mistakes than just that one time somebody left a Starbucks coffee cup on set.

In season one, naturally, the show's budget wasn't huge. They hadn't gained the cult following that they currently have — they started from the bottom, and in hindsight, it shows!

One fan pointed out a mistake regarding the wedding gifts given to Daenerys’ in the first-ever episode.

Episode one also introduced to us, Ser Jorah Mormont, who went on to become Daenerys’ right hand lieutenant.

Before Daenerys’ wedding, she was gifted three books about the history of the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros.

While it wasn't a particularly important detail at the time, someone noticed something bizarre happening with the books from scene to scene.

“Ser Jorah has just given Daenerys 3 books as her wedding present. As she takes them, their spines are pointing towards her right side," one very observant fan pointed out.

“Cut to the next shot, as Jorah informs her that he served her father, the spines are now pointing towards her left side.”

That wasn't the only flaw surrounding the books, however. Someone also pointed out some visual effects gone wrong.

The books appear to be jumping around in Daenerys’ hands when the camera switches angles.

Another fan noticed a few other mistakes from the very first episode.

“When we see the dead deer at the start there are maggots all over the face of the deer. Between camera angles, the position of the maggots differ drastically," one fan said.

“At Daenerys' wedding we see a man get sliced across his midriff and lean backwards with his mouth open."

"Camera does an instant cut and now he is slouched forwards," another pointed out.

The mistakes were, unfortunately, not limited to just season one. In season eight, somebody noticed that Daenerys' hairstyle changed between shots of the same scene.

Ruin My Week

Not quite sure how anybody missed this one! It's a doozy.

Fans also noticed on several occasions that the swords appeared to be made of rubber.

In one scene, specifically, John Snow hops onto his horse, causing his “Valyrian steel” sword to flap around all willy-nilly.

Come on, GoT, spring for some more realistic-looking props!

In season five, we were made painfully aware that Jorah had a disease called "Greyscale" — a super contagious condition spread through skin-to-skin contact.

Ruin My Week

But in season five episode nine, Jorah offers his hand to Daenerys and she takes it.

So, she would have definitely contracted the disease and died.

In season eight, Daenerys “forgot” about the Iron Fleet, even though she and everybody else was reminded of it just a few moments earlier.

Fans were shook when Rhaegal was shot down by Euron’s ships and so was Daenerys'.

While she seemed shocked, fans were quick to point out that she would've seen it coming since she was warned of it shortly before it happened.

In the post-episode recap, David Benioff explains that Daenerys “forgot” about the Iron Fleet, but I mean, it seems like a pretty important piece of information to forget about...

In one scene in season six, Melisandre was spotted *sans* her magical red necklace that keeps her young and beautiful.

Ruin My Week

She is sitting in a bathtub with her necklace seemingly nowhere in sight.

So, unless she was wearing it on another part of her body — which would be strange — then shouldn't she have begun to deteriorate before our very eyes?

And of course, last but certainly not least, the Starbucks cup incident.

CNN

This was probably their biggest mess-up, by far.

In season eight episiode four, during a feast, Daenerys is sitting at the table in front of what is clearly a coffee cup. How nobody noticed this while they were filming is beyond me?

Anyways, *GoT* went on to become wildly successful — mistakes and all. Nowadays, whether you've watched it or not, it is a household name.
